How summer looked during that time I spent in the cult.

We were interviewed for a magazine called JAW. You can read that here: http://jawmagazine.com. AND, we did some pictures for it. Check them out, we look all creepy and night-timey.

(vic)radio free ithaca

We made our way down to Ithaca, NY yesterday to play some songs and answer some questions on Ithaca College's VICradio.org. We played Pink Shoes and Touch Me, chatted for about 18 minutes, then played Black River Driving, Oh, Greyhound, and Ship To Sail. It was a pretty great time. We haven't done many interviews so, it's still pretty weird to be talking about ourselves and answering odd questions. We had a lot of fun though. We have to give a big thanks to Sarah Czwartacky for setting the whole thing up. Here is a couple videos that were taken in the studio:

We'll have the interview portion posted soon. Then you can see us in our full awkward glory.

Songs For Eva - Summer Cult's new alt-country dream pop EP

We're listening to the mixes of our new EP and we LOVE it. We think you will, too. It's going to be done very, very soon. The story of this ep is: we acquired a box of old photographs, one of which was a mysterious looking, sepia tinted woman. The back of this picture was simply labeled "Eva." We don't know who she is but we constructed three songs with her in mind. Maybe they're songs to her, from her, or just the soundtrack to her days. You decide.

We brought Summer to Boston early this year

Summer Cult just had a lovely three day stay away from the compound. We played three very fun, very different shows in Boston.

Friday the 13th we played at The Plough And Stars, a great little spot in Cambridge, with Jim Heffernan, Fashion Snake, and Hands and Knees. It was packed with nice people and everyone sounded great. We even had quite a few Syracuse friends there to rock out with us.

Saturday, we saw some sights then trucked on over to Allston for a punk rock house show at the Secret House Of Pancakes. It was hot, sweaty, loud, and full of kids who were really into the music. There was great music from Josh and Sam, S.L.F.M., The Taxidermists, Greylock, and Fort! The Band. Before the last note from the last band died, the police showed up... through the 2nd story kitchen window. And as they did, they announced, "The cops are coming through the kitchen window! If you're underage, you're gonna wanna go. We are not joking. You've managed to INTENSELY piss off your neighbors." But they actually seemed pretty nice about the whole thing. "Oh! That's the beer guy. HE'S gonna fuck you ova." They said that, too. No clue what the context was but it's all really fun to say in their thick Bostonian accents.

Sunday morning was less sweaty but just as much fun. We played a brunch party with Spirit Family Reunion, put on by New Music Collaborative, Music Savage and Brewery Sessions. It was all filmed (and streamed online) by Kitchen Sessions. We filled up on yummy breakfast foods, drank many mimosas (and beers and screwdrivers and vodka tonics...) and belted out our songs to nearly a hundred people on a beautiful, sunny day. Here's a few pictures that showed up on twitter:

Dank, cold birthday basement

We played our first show of 2012 and our first show with the newbie, Alex. The show was a birthday party for our dear friend, Nathan, who also played with his reunited band, Cyan. Alex did great and the three part harmonies went over a charm. We can't wait to get out there again and rock some faces, Bon Jovi style.

John Mayer followed us on twitter.

We jumped in the water and joined twitter. You should go follow us. Wanna know why? Because we're good enough for John Mayer. We must be good enough for you. That's some proof up there.

the (n)ice storm

It's an awful and snowy day in Summer Cult's stomping grounds Syracuse today. But already we're thinking ahead and planning for spring and summer time. Keep an eye out for show dates. We hope we can play somewhere close to you this year! We should have our new EP finished soon too. It's sounding sweet and we can't wait to share it with you all.
